Thing 7: Web2.0 tools

Our library system does of course use email. It is a great way to reach people when there is not
an immediate need for a response. If I'm working a weekend and have a question for a staff member that might not be working until Monday morning I can email them and they can get back to me at their convenience. Our main reference library does the reference email, though we of course do some local correspondence. Text messaging is just something I do at home with family. Webinars are great for staff and myself. No travel time. Less scheduling changes!!!

Thing 4, 5, 6 Flicker, online generator

It was great looking at all the images on Flicker. It would be so neat to be able to travel to
see those images in person. I wish my camera could take such great photos. It would be great to be able to take time to make some of the options available, puzzles, trading cards, etc. This would be something great to do at home with personal photos. Some time when there is more time. Let me put it on my 'to do' list.

RSS or Really Simple Syndication

This is a great resource for people on the go. Having the ability to receive the information you are most interested in or need at your fingertips is great. Students and professors could greatly benefit from this resource. Everyone that knew about this could probably find some sights that they would want to receive updates from. I seem to be swamped with unwanted emails at home and at work so I'm not sure I'm ready to give this a try yet. It is definitely something to think about.

Library 2.0 Cookbook

Perflexing is right. Intriguing maybe. The best slide was # 67. 'The library is a human organization.' We've been told from upper management that we don't use the word
"no." Keeping signage positive is something we have been trying to do for awhile now. We've started reviewing our policies and procedures, especially now with our new circulation system.
I've got a great team at my location and I use their expertise all the time. The county as a whole has some great team members as well.

Abram launches Library 23 Things

His enthusiasm for becoming addicted to learning was great. Committing the time is something I need to deal with. What was all that noise in the background. Remember to reflect on what you learn. I should learn a lot about new technology. I just hope I'm not too old to learn and remember. I find myself asking for a refresher from my younger co-workers. Let's see how we can preserve the culture of the library. What changes need to be made? Here's to learning a number of new and exciting possibilities.
